Happy President's Day.
I had surgery this past Thursday. I've known about it for a little over a month & the anticipation was killing me. I did not know what to expect except that I knew I would be in some pain after, but this surgery was supposed to make me feel better in the long run.
Last year I had around six sinus infections and strep throat twice. Constantly sick. I caught everything that anyone had. I went into the Dr the first of December and received an antibiotic. & exactly one month later I returned to the same Dr in January for another sinus infection. I had been on antibiotics for a whole month, so when I went back in the Dr said "something is definitely wrong. You shouldn't be sick again because you are STILL on antibiotics." She told me I had to go see an ENT Dr. So I made an appointment for the following week.
The ENT Dr put a camera up my nose & said I have an extra drainage spot that goes into my throat. I should have two, but I have three. This results in extra drainage into my throat, which irritates my tonsils which causes me to get sick. He then had me get a CT scan of my sinuses. I returned back to the Dr a few days later to review my CT scan. The first words he said when he walked into the room the following visit was "You have terrible sinuses, but you probably already know that." Yes I do.
The average sinuses hold about a cup of liquid when the person is sick. Mine were 3/4 of a cup full of puss that was not draining out of my sinuses. This caused me to continue to stay sick even though I was on antibiotics. The Dr then put me on more antibiotics, stronger ones. & recommended that I get surgery.
I scheduled surgery the day before valentines day. Zack was awesome & let us celebrate it the weekend before my surgery. He had flowers delivered & everything. It was perfect! Anyways, surgery went fine. I stressed out so bad. The IV was terrible. She did it in my hand. I would much rather have it in my arm. The hand was the worst. I was freaking out. Waking up after surgery I tried to touch my nose. The nurse quickly hit my hand down and told me I couldn't touch my nose. My throat killed because of the breathing tube they had to put in my throat during the surgery. The Dr said my surgery went well. I think I was in surgery for about an hour & a half. & in recover for a little over two hours. I was in the surgical center for a total of five hours. It was a long day. When I left I felt so sick to my stomach. My nose hurt. My throat hurt. I was so tired. I got home & threw up before making it into the house. Luckily they gave me a bag thing just in case I did throw up. What made it worse was that I threw up blood. It was disgusting. I felt a little better after throwing up but was still so tired. I had gauze taped under my nose & it quickly became full of blood.
I changed my gauze & rested. My mom made potato soup. It was hard to eat because the gauze was clearly in the way. Zack came over after work.Brought me some ice cream, Ice, & stayed the night because I had to sleep in a chair so my head wasn't down. I did not sleep at all. I tossed & turned & finally around five AM I was on the verge of tears. Zack woke up & got me some pain meds to make me feel better. The pain meds knocked me out for a few hours.
Friday was the real Valentines day. I could irrigate my nose that day, although I still (to this day) can not blow my nose yet. & I'm still irrigating it. It's pretty gross what stuff comes out. Lots of blood clots. ewe. Zack's sister brought my lunch on Valentine's day. It was really nice of her. Zack stayed with me again on Friday night to make sure I was okay. I slept better Friday night. My parents went & got a pizza for us. It was delish.
Saturday we laid around and hung out all day.Sunday we went to Zack's parents house for a little bit. Mostly to just get out of the house. I was so exhausted. I never knew that little things like that would seriously drain my energy. The little energy I had.
Monday (today) I went with Zack to lunch. & to his work office after. I was there for a little over an hour & suddenly was in so much pain. I needed a pain pill ASAP. I left. Came home & got a pain pill. I fell asleep after. It just knocked me out. Scrub shopping with Zack when he got off work. *New work policy is that starting March 1st we have to dress up for work or wear scrubs. I work at seven AM. No way am I going to dress up. So I had to buy some scrubs. PS. Scrubs are EXPENSIVE!* I was so worn out from going shopping. Came home & watched the Bachelor with Zack & my parents. Writing this now & then heading to bed. I should be going to school tomorrow, but I only have one class & it's at two-three. I'm going to miss it tomorrow & I will plan on going Wednesday. I'm feeling better but not all the way. I need some more rest before heading back to Logan. I don't know how I am going to make that drive, period. One hour drive isn't anything, except when you are sick & have no energy. Blah. Dreading it.
Thank you for everyone for your love & concerns over the past few days.
Loves.
